A WEEKEND ON THE ROAD: FINDING PEACE IN SMALL ADVENTURES

This past weekend, we took a break from our usual routine, loaded up the RV, and headed to Fort Collins, Colorado. No strict agenda—just a chance to unwind, take in the scenery and enjoy each other’s company.

We started the weekend with a hike that reminded us how grounding it feels to be surrounded by nature. There’s a quiet clarity you find on the trail. With every step, the noise of daily life fades, replaced by the sounds of the wind and distant birds. Watching Dennis take it all in, leaning against the overlook with that thoughtful gaze, I felt grateful for these simple moments. In places like these, we have our best conversations – no interruptions – just us and nature.

Our evenings brought a bit of nostalgia as we cozied up in the RV to rewatch some old favorites like “Mask of Zorro” and “Serenity”. There’s something special about revisiting those classic movies, especially with the backdrop of a quiet mountain evening. Surrounded by good food and cozied up with blankets – I couldn’t think of a more stress-reducting activity.

Before heading home, we took in the sunrise at Horsetooth Reservoir—just us, the water, and a brilliant sky painted in shades. These small adventures might seem ordinary, but for us, they are relationship (and soul) refreshers.

Here’s to more weekends spent on the road, away from screens and deadlines, reconnecting with each other and with what matters most.
